Narayana Health SRCC Children’s Hospital organised an Awareness & Interactive Session on Cerebral Palsy (CP)

“Cerebral” means of or relating to the brain. “Palsy” means problems or weakness related to muscles. Cerebral Palsy is a group of disorders that primarily affect a child’s motor activity along with speech, hearing, visual, learning, and intellectual ability. According to the National Health Portal of India, 1 in 4 children having Cerebral Palsy can not talk, 1 in 3 can not walk, 1 in 4 is epileptic and 1 in 2 suffers from intellectual disability. Cerebral Palsy being a lifelong disability demands lifelong management through a proper redhibitory approach and orthopaedic management. 

On Cerebral Palsy Day, Narayana Health SRCC Children’s Hospital along with SRCC Centre For Child Development organised an Awareness & Interactive Session followed by a musical event with the children inflicted with cerebral palsy. A thought-provoking panel discussion on “Healthy Diet”, “Dental Health” and “Skill Development & Physical Activity “to spread awareness regarding how to cope with the disorders.

In India, the prevalence of Cerebral Palsy is around 3 out of every 1000 live births. As it has no cure, so preventive measure before and during pregnancy is the only light in the tunnel. Awareness is the instrument available to reduce the ever-increasing caseloads in an effective way. So, be aware and make aware and stretch your hand for the little ones who are inflicted with Cerebral Palsy.
